Sue Hershey,
APRN-PNP
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
About
Sue Hershey is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who has been in practice for over 30 years in both primary and acute care settings. She received both her BSN and Masters degree in Pediatric Nursing from the University of Michigan. She started her career in Pediatric Cardiology at Michigan’s Mott Children’s Hospital, where she worked with both acutely ill patients and children with very complex, chronic conditions. This experience helped shape both her attention to detail and her understanding of the psychological and social aspects of patients experiencing chronic and/or traumatic health events. She has practiced in a variety of primary care settings in Austin, including in-home mobile care, small private offices and large clinics.
In addition to her clinical experience, Sue has taught in the Nurse Practitioner Programs at the University of Texas, and The University of Michigan. She has precepted and mentored nursing and medical students at every level of their clinical training. Sue believes that educating patients and parents is also extremely important in pediatric health care. Whether it’s child development, behavioral issues, or complex health problems, the patient and family’s understanding and commitment to a plan is key to successful outcomes.
Sue enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, listening to live music, hiking, kayaking and spending time with her husband and their adult children. She is also a big Michigan and Longhorn Football fan.
She is excited to be part of the Lirios Team and welcomes the opportunity to care for as many children as possible in our community.
